Global MSC Presents Cumbria Constabulary with the Gordon McLanaghan Innovation Award

Global MSC Security has awarded Cumbria Constabulary its prestigious Gordon McLanaghan Innovation Award. The accolade was presented by Managing Director of Global MSC Security, Derek Maltby to Steven Ferguson of Cumbria Constabulary, receiving a Bristol Blue Glass engraved ships decanter and a £1,000 cheque on behalf of the force.

The Gordon McLanaghan Innovation Award is awarded annually, in memory of the popular Bristol City Council CCTV and Emergency Control Room Manager Gordon McLanaghan. It recognises those who have gone above and beyond, to overcome resistance in order to achieve a security technical solution that is unusual. Previous winners of the award include Community Safety Glasgow, Jim Guiton of Dacorum Borough Council and Gloucester City Council.

The independent judging panel for the 2017 award was chaired by Professor William Webster of Stirling University, who is also the Director of the Centre for Research into Information Surveillance and Privacy.

The award was presented at the Global MSC Security charity dinner on 13th November, at The Bristol Hotel, Bristol, in front of an audience of 98 security professionals, working in the public and private sector. Derek Maltby comments: “Cumbria Constabulary are deserving winners of the 2017 Gordon McLanaghan Innovation Award and it is a pleasure to recognise its achievement with the highest accolade Global MSC Security can bestow.”
