IRMS Announces New Dates for IRMS Conference 2020

The Information and Records Management Society (IRMS) has announced the new dates for the IRMS Conference 2020. The conference will now take place from 29th November to 1st December 2020, at the same venue as planned – the Hilton Birmingham Metropole (NEC). The theme for the conference is ‘Information and Data: The Heart of your Organisation’ and the programme and speakers announced in February are expected to remain unchanged, with registration open now.

These new dates follow extensive discussions between the IRMS, Revolution Events and the venue, and is in accordance with advice from the UK government and other relevant bodies in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Chair of the IRMS, Scott Sammons states: “I would like to thank all our IRMS volunteers, partners and sponsors for working so swiftly to ensure this important annual event for information and records management professionals takes place this year.” Sammons adds: “We are looking forward to welcoming around 400 delegates, speakers and sponsors for what will be a fantastic conference. What’s more, our Gala Dinner now promises to be a Christmas party to remember!”

The IRMS Conference 2020 is being organised by Revolution Events and is sponsored by OASIS, Iron Mountain, Act Now Training, Alaris, Arkivum, EQUINITI, File Stream Fujitsu, GSA, OneTrust, Preservica and Restore.

The IRMS is currently running a number of initiatives to help members connect and share expertise. On 1st April between 8pm and 9pm, Membership Director, Katharine Stevenson will host #IRMSHour on Twitter, discussing the topic of Retention v Destruction. In addition, members can use the IRMS’s SocialLink platform to share files and links for comment, ask questions and access group resources.

Sammons concludes: “Finally, the IRMS would like to offer its support and thanks to its many members who are working at all levels of the NHS and other public sector bodies, in support of those helping to save lives on the front line.”
